Matting
Matted, Knotted or Tangled Fur: Depending on the severity of the matting we may have to shave your pet. There is also a chance that your pet’s skin may become irritated from clipping so close to the skin and could be accidently cut in the process. The procedure takes extreme care and extra time, due to this there will be additional charges depending on the severity of the matting. Since mats rest tightly on the skin, they often hide pre-existing conditions. Shaving mats can cause or reveal injuries such as inflammation, infections, restricted movement, and blood circulations problems. It is not uncommon for some pets to have grazes or rashes appear post grooming especially if your dog is particularly sensitive and rubs or scratches the areas where matted hair has been removed. When an ear is matted it can restrict blood flow, this can cause hematomas. Removing mats can trigger a sudden rush of blood to the ears and bleeding can occur. This will typically occur at the tips of the ears. Care at home post groom will be required to ensure your pet’s comfort.
Senior Dogs
Senior pets need breaks to keep them comfortable and extra care is required; this can create a longer groom time resulting in additional fees. It is important you disclose any information to Amy's Pet Boutique regarding health condition, restricted mobility, or any injuries for them be handled safely, keeping stress to a minimum. If we feel your pet is unable to cope with the process of grooming or would be at risk within the salon, we may not be able to complete the groom.
